Here for your consideration is this highly collectible pumpkin face creamer that originally came from a child-size tea set used for children’s Halloween parties and their play time. This vintage porcelain creamer is hard to find and not often seen. When originally made these items were not meant to be high-quality porcelain but made for children's playthings. These sets were made of inexpensive porcelain for children to play with. You can imagine a child breaking their tea sets while playing or while in storage which explains why they are rare. The tea sets were made beginning in 1914 through the early 1930s this creamer was part of a complete tea set. This cute creamer measures approximately 2 ¼ inches by 2 ¼ inches a nice size for your Halloween decorating it is not hallmarked. The German hallmark of a concentric circle mark was introduced in 1922, I do not believe that all pieces of the German tea sets were always hallmarked. These tea sets were also copied and made in Japan for western sales. The Japanese pieces were not made as well as the German pieces, they have a bumpy look and none of the Japanese tea sets were hallmarked. One thing I have noticed that Japanese pieces have in common is that the bottoms are glazed over and shiny. This creamer’s bottom is not shiny and glazed the bottom is a matte finish. I believe it is German made but I am not totally certain. With respect to its condition, there are a couple of factory defects that were commonly made during production. This creamer has a slight nose rub and what looks to be factory hairline cracks a common problem that does not detract from the piece it is firm and it will display beautifully. The creamer shows very slight wear consistent with its age as you can view in the pictures it is in nice condition. You can view a similar creamer on page 120 of the 3rd edition of Mark Ledenbach’s Vintage Halloween Collectible Identification and price guide. The cute pumpkin face creamer is rare and getting harder to find. Here is your opportunity to make this piece of Halloween history your own. This Halloween decoration will make a wonderful addition to your Halloween collection or a wonderful gift for that special someone.
