Here for your consideration is this historical and patriotic pin known as the "Emblem of the Americas, Amigos Siempre - Flags of the Americas” brooch. This pin was designed by Lester Gaba in 1941 for the Coro Jewelry Company, made to commemorate the Eighth International Conference of American States which was held in Lima in 1938. This pin features 21 enameled flags which represent the 21 American Republics. The flags are grouped together and adorned with a banner which reads "Amigos Siempre" Spanish for "Friends Forever". Initially the proceeds in part of the sale of these brooches in part were donated to the Inter-American Scholarship Fund. This brooch was made of enameled gold plated base metal and is in nice condition as you can view in the pictures. The next owner can enhance the beauty of this brooch with a warm bath to bring out its beauty. It is a nice size and will display well it measures approximately 2 ¼ by 2 ½ inches. The pin back functions properly as designed and is hallmarked on the reverse Coro in script.
