Here for your consideration is this lovely Japanese papier mache black lacquer trinket box with a hinged lid and gilt on black decoration. The box opens on the end and there is a simple clasp to secure it. This box is lined with a purple satin-like fabric perhaps silk. The beautiful cover depicts a lotus flower with a bee in each corner. I understand similar items described in the 19th Century; Meiji I am not certain of its age. It is in good used condition with slight wear to the lacquer and to decoration as shown and as you can view in the pictures. The box is a nice size for your dressing table it measures approximately 3 ¾ inches by 2 ½ inches by 1 inch. The background for this piece was that in the 1950s my uncle was stationed in Japan during the American occupation period after Work War 2. He brought this box home for my Grandmother as a souvenir. Included with this box I have included 2 simple screw-back jade earrings. Here is your opportunity to own this lovely Trinket Box
