Here for your consideration is this collectible hard to find brooch depicting oxen pulling a Conestoga also known as a covered wagon. The brooch is encrusted into a rhodium plated base metal with multicolored rhinestones accented with enameling. The two wheels at the front of the brooch spin freely an unusual touch. This hard to find brooch is a nice size that will display well measuring approximately 2 ¼ inches by 1 ¼ inches. This wagon is not hallmarked but you can view a similar brooch in page 140 in the price guide entitled Collectible Costume Jewelry Identification & Values by Cherri Simonds. The guide indicates an estimated value of 175.00 - 200.00. Based upon the material’s and construction this brooch was made during the 1930s. The price guide by Simonds does not identify the maker of this brooch, however, an identical pin with all clear rhinestones has been pictured with the maker Little Nemo hang tag I have also have seen it as a Coro piece The condition is very nice with slight wear to the enamel and generally nice with slight wear consistent with its age, use and storage. There is a standard pin back on the reverse that is functional.
