This is a Crown Trifari pin created by Alfred Philippe. This is his Rag doll pin called Rintintin. It was designed and produced in 1943 in vermeil "gold over sterling silver". These little rag doll figures were carried by allied soldiers during WW1, and were made of silk or wool. The pin has a 3/4 secure safety clasp. It is in very good vintage condition and has normal only age wear, faint to no metal wear. Blown up shots are exaggerating minor flaws. With Sapphire blue colored glass cabochon as face and clear pave set shiny rhinestones which have some expected aged gray cast. Body in very good condition. Back of pin is excellent. marked Trifari with the royal crown on top of T on arm. marked Sterling and patent no 136080 on Body. Secure pin latch.
measures approximately 1-3/8 inches wide and 1-3/4 inches tall.
Beautiful Rintintin pin is pictured in the Brunalti book, "American Costume Jewelry" page 120.
