Wonderful Early 1900 sterling Mexico Aztec Amethyst Carved face mask Dagger Sword Brooch. Has minor issue of some scratches and on that same side small chip on the face mask. Blown up micro shots will exaggerate those and it is other wise in very good vintage condition. Marked sterling Mexico on the back of the scimitar sword and there is a faded circle stamp that really can not be read, however we are confident this is the stamp and work done by artisan Gonzalo Moreno. The scabbard that pulls out is connected by a short link chain, otherwise referred to as a chatelaine. The mask carved amethyst stone is set Jour (open backed) and stay in place securely. Worn as a brooch with the secure rolling c clasp on the sword as one piece together. Nice repousse flower and low raise bead work detailing through out and two bezel set round amethyst stone on the sword which both have a bit of play or movement. Some minor normal patina. Made in the forty’s and rare in both design, stone and gemstone color features.
Measures 3 3/4”L and at the widest point 1”W. 17.5 grams weight.
Priced with some flaws considered.
