This fantastic and rare early twenty's brooch has been in my collection for many years. It has normal only age wear surface scratches or dings and is in over all very good vintage condition. Features a substantial 20 grams of silver on this gorgeous galloping horse with knight in armor and sword. All stones original and present. Sparkling marcasite on the amour and horses reins. One Ruby red color eye accent. Secure rolling c clasp pin closure. Marked both B-K sterling and By Brandt on the back.
Measures 1 7/8 by 1 3/4' L and W.
Not much is known about Brandt Metal Crafters, a small Chicago craft shop that produced jewelry in the early 20th century. According to Sharon Darling's Chicago Metalsmiths the firm was "listed in 1914 [Chicago] directory as specialists in initials and monograms" and "advertised 'arts and crafts jewelry' in 1923." We've seen very few items from this company.
