Incredible 18th Century metallic thread embroidered huswif or sewing case roll up measuring 13 1/2" long by 4 3/4" at the widest. It is embroidered with metal thread including all the outside trim. The silk backing over paper on the first panel with the anchor has almost completely melted away however most of the metal thread and foil remains. There is old sticker residue on the back of the pincushion as shown where some fool stuck a price sticker. A conservator could carefully remove this but I really don't want to try. This is hands down the best sewing roll I have ever seen and so far I haven't found any comparable on the internet-this really belongs in a textile museum. The heart shaped mirror is just divine! Most sections are actually a pocket to hold threads, needles and whatever tools desired.
