This has to be the CRAZIEST early pipe I have yet had! It comes in a box which is incredibly well made out of cigar boxes-the lid opens and closes tightly flawlessly. Inside is this amazing paper mache and turned treen wood pipe of a most bizarre nature. It looks as though they are kissing with the motion of the bobble heads-which need a little adjusting. She is missing her foot-the one that is draped over his knee. The case measures 5 3/4" by 4" by 2 1/2" and I feel it dates to the mid 19th Century. My immediate thought was something to do with the Gold Rush and Pioneer towns that had a huge influx of Chinese workers. This to me makes me think this is some kind of caricature or political statement from the time. I am wondering if it's a tobacco pipe or a cigar holder-any input would be appreciated!
