Pairs of these early Staffordshire King Charles Cavalier Spaniel dog mantle ends are extremely hard to find with the separated front leg as this pair has. These earlier ones are sightly chunkier. This pair is in nice condition with the exception of a line in the glaze that has discolored across/on the back of the right hand dog as shown, and a few of the same on the underside of the base as shown. The left hand dog has about 3 chips to the black paint on the end of his nose as shown. A VERY hard to find pair! Measure 9 1/4" by 7 1/4" and date to the mid to late 19th Century.
