This striking Original Hand Painted Double Sided Tin English Pubmaster Sign is in excellent condition. NO dents, or loss of color or paint. There is one scratch on the right side about hand high. This is probably the most popular name for various businesses in England since St. George is a patron saint and a mythological dragon slayer. The sign is encased in an iron frame with two rings at the top where an iron rod was inserted to hang the sign from the front of the pub. Purchased from an estate that had things from all over the world. The story was that they purchased it from an antique dealer who got it from a pub that had closed. There are a couple of minor differences in the pictures- the man’s face and the horse's face are a little different on either side (shown in photos). Weighs about 35 pounds and measures 38” x 33” x 2 ¾”. If you are looking for the unique piece of decoration, this would be a great addition to a bar area, den, or special room. It is one of a kind – no two pub signs are alike since most were locally owned. The style of this sign can be seen repeated in many other signs that are still in use in England today (check out images).
