Vintage 1941 Type 1 black & white glossy photograph of International Clown Hall of Fame performance clown Paul Jerome. Paul Jerome born September 30, 1889 and died November 7, 1960 was both a gifted burlesque comedian on the theatre stage but also internationally known for his performances inside the circus ring under the big top. Best remembered as a “tramp clown” and later became known as the “neon clown” for his nose that would light up and his heart that would glow. He worked for over 25 years for both the Barnum & Bailey Circus as well as the Ringling Brothers Circus and appeared in the classic circus movie “Greatest Show On Earth” starring Burt Lancaster. This vintage clown photograph is in near-mint condition with no holes, tears, rips, crease or stains. It measures 8” x 10”. From the personal collection of photographer Joe Ward.
