This extraordinary Art Deco Niello evening cigarette case was owned by a Parisian in the 20's, and dated 1-14-1927. Niello is a technique of creating black enamel designs on silver. The process is usually done in stripes, flowers, and other geometric patterns. This black and silver geometric Art Deco piece has a gold shell inside with the original elastics, which held evening cigarettes (very fashionable in the day). It is marked with several French names and dates and the word 'Paris'. It looks like it says Messr. Liebling, Lisa – 14.1.27, Monopol, and on the other side of the case, names, dates of birth and maybe cities of birth of a family. It is quite a collector's item, and if you're a Francophile, what a piece to own and cherish. It is in good antique condition with normal age wear, and spots here and there where the silver has lightened. It measures 3.50 inches x 2.50 inches. Great to use as a card case now or to carry dollar bills. Enjoy the uniqueness of this piece.
