This richly colorful oval hand-painted porcelain turn-of-the-century tulip brooch has been beautifully painted with a deep rust-like tulip in the center and a soft blue background. Light and dark shades of green leaves surround it on both sides, with touches of gold-leafing run through. This brooch is so timeless and seasonless, it is definitely a year-round piece. It is outlined in gold leaf throughout, with slight wear on the edges from normal age and use. The pin is in very good antique condition and measures 1.50 inches wide x 2.0 inches in length. The back has a hand-made brass frame with a "C" pin closure, which was typical of much of the jewelry of that period. The fashion trend in those days (1880's-1900) was for young girls to paint their own jewelry, and this piece is just one in a collection in the shop, so check them all out.
