Amateur painted low bowl on a blank from Japan. Fantastic art deco decoration has stylized bluebirds and flowers. The ivory glazed body has a rich gold band around the rim and foot. Gold specks are used in abundance to fill in the blank spaces between the birds. Rich dark green, cobalt blue, orange and yellow glazes were used. Bowl was painted in 1923 by a young lady named Minnie Weighill. Research shows that she was 31 years old and lived in Winnipeg, MB when this was painted. Bowl measures 2 1/2" high and 7 1/4" in diameter.
There is over all age crazed staining to the interior and base as shown. There are no chips, cracks or fleabites.Very striking amateur piece. See my store for another piece from this talented amateur artist.
