Offered here is this early production ZSC duck planter from their line of novelty items. The mould details are crisp and the eyes still retain a small amount of original cold painting. The later versions, where the moulds were badly worn, show almost no detail. The glaze is a semi satin turquoise. It measures 5 1/2" long and 3 1/2" high. Although not marked, this piece can be found on page 141 of Rans, Ralston, and Russell Zanesville Stoneware Company book.
Aside from a couple production flaws, bits of clay sticking to the side, there are no chips, cracks or damage.
