Offered here is this extremely unusual piece of West German pottery. This happy fella is a somewhat rotund teddy bear covered in a mottled caramel high gloss glaze. this was used as a baking mould for a teddy bear shaped cake. When not in use, the top of the head has a hole for hanging and the edge has 6 feet, which allows it to sit off the wall. It measures 21.5cm ( 8 1/2") high and 12.5cm ( 4 7/8") wide. It is marked as shown. I have confirmation that this piece was made by Scheurich in the mid 1970's.
There are a couple glaze imperfections including one on the paw as shown. There are no chips, cracks or fleabites. This is an extremely unusual and rarely found piece of West German pottery.
