Hanzakos Ceramics Shmoo Cotton Holder ~ Rare
Offered here is this shmoo item that is the first of its kind to surface. This is an important piece as it solves some questions about the shmoos produced by this relatively unknown California company. All these pieces found on the internet were called smoking items. This key piece actually shows that these were produced for the nursery. The large open back on the other 2 shmoos that have been found would hold safety pins and probably swabs. This is a cotton holder as the interior is completely glazed, allowing the cotton free movement when needed.
This is a male shmoo the is covered in a delph blue high gloss glaze with remnants of cold paint still remaining. He measures 5 3/4" high and about 4 1/4" in length. The base is no longer marked, but the dry foot and imperfections are associated with this company.
There are no chips, cracks or fleabites. The cold paint is mostly intact. There are some glaze pops and overall age crazing. So far, this is the first one of these to surface providing a rare opportunity to own something almost unique.
