Fabulous art pottery low bowl produced in the 1950's by West German maker Jasba. Fascinating hybrid glaze is a precursor to the fat lava that proved so popular a few years down the road. The glaze has a rich oxblood base with frothy ivory yellow medallions and subtle gold veining. It measures 29.7cm ( 11 3/4") in diameter and 6.5cm ( 2 1/2") high. The base is marked as shown and the clay is a dark brick red.
There are no chips, cracks, fleabites or repairs. The gilt veining shows wear as expected.
