Offered for sale: Early 1900s hand painted porcelain portrait set in a brass large 'chain link' style setting.
This adorable miniature portrait measures 5/8 by 5/8 inches. The brass setting measures 1 5/8 by 1 5/8 inches. The colors are bright and vivid. When I first looked at this miniature, I thought I was looking a a chubby faced child with ruddy cheeks and dark hair. However when I looked closer I could see that the person in the miniature is shown wearing earrings and in her hair some type of hair ornament which is done in a raised white enamel. There is also a long with scarf shown wrapped around dark hair which is cut with long bangs so I will leave the determination of age to the viewer of the portrait.
The portrait is surround by brass twisted wire decoration. The frame itself is brass done in a large interlocking curb chain style which surrounds the entire miniature. The pin on the back is an extra long one with a c-clasp. The back of the miniature is marked 'EIF & Co' for E.I. Franklin & Company a turn of the century American jewelry manufacturer.
