The Ilse Ludecke dolls are from just after WWII Germany, and represent the regional costumes of Europe. Here we have Marina, a peasant maiden with a rice race from Northern Italy. She displays all the fabulous layers of tradition in her costume and hair. The photos will best describe it for you. Her hair is dark and extremely long, protected by the straw hat to shield her from the hot sun while working the fields. Under her skirt is a hanging pocket with a note from the doll maker, signed, giving a narrative of the region and traditions. All her clothing is cotton. The wood stand is stamped on the bottom, as shown in the photo which dates her, with her size, to the earliest of production. I have scanned 2 articles about these dolls from the Doll magazines, and am happy to share them with you. Marina is delightful, in wonderful, all original condition, and a joy to have and to hold! She is from the same original owner as the Ludeke doll from Hungary, also listed in my shop.
