Great ornate silver based compote with van dyke cut rim compote with ruby cut to clear glass bowl. About 9" diameter, and 7" tall. Dates to about c1870 or so. Very fine condition with one small indent on the base, and one tiny flake to underside of rim, and a few teeny pocks to tips of van dyke points.....unnoticed unless really scrutinized up close. Fine silver base that I am confident is .800 silver, and marked with impressed "12" hallmark, and a few teeny tiny miniscule engraved and impressed letter/number marks to base edge which I tried to photograph(last photo) but are only really visible with big time magnification. There is no base metal as I did a scratch test, and I do see tarnish and polish residues. Rather ornate stippled acanthus leaf footed corners and lobed and scrollwork base decorations. The glass has a polished circular "4 corners" deep ruby cut to clear glass design all around the glass bowl. Very fine quality and in solid original condition. Most of these I see have been redone to some degree....this is completely original with even the original base fill and neck ring(which is solid as most are resecured through various methods).
