Great mid 19th century, thick and heavy glass, ruby stained with cut and polished base, lid, and finial. The whole of it is faceted, polished, and finely engraved with grapes, leaves, and vine motif as shown in the photos. About 7 1/4" tall, and 4 5/8" diameter. The quality is understated, but obvious upon handling in particular. Very heavy, and completely hand created. The lid has a small chip which I photographed up close, and from both sides. It is not obvious, and can simply be turned away for display......but it has to really be looked for as I hope the photos show. Great quality. This is guaranteed Boston and Sandwich. Notice the polished grapes? Large polished pontil and cut flat base showing lots of shelf wear.
