Egermann was known for this style so is a leading candidate on this pokal or covered goblet/chalice....dates to about c1850s. Heavy thick high quality glass with cut rayed base.....ruby stained panels which were engraved and hand painted lid and waist with ivy/vine. The whole of the body is cut/faceted with the panels cut back to stand out......the ribbed waist is smoothed and polished and the top rim finely beveled. A much better than normal Victorian Grand Tour era piece. Nice pontil and finishing with cut punty panels and beveled edges. About 12 3/4" tall and 4 3/4" diameter. Other than a tiny pin point to the very tip of the finial this is in excellent condition. Very heavy and solid glass that is very high quality with a "ping" when tapped.
