This is a huge, heavy, mottled glass bowl that is by the fine modern California studio glass artist Rina Fehrensen and is in the style of Murano/Venetian glass. This is a mottled yellow glass and would be a fabulous decorative centerpiece or accent. Very large at 15 1/2" diameter. Dated "91". Signed on back, as photographed. Rina Fehrensen's interest in glassblowing stems from a visit she made to the glass factories on the island of Murano, Italy in 1989 while on a trip around the world. On her return to the United States she studied glassblowing at Palomar College. Since that time she has continued her studies at the Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, WA, the Bildwerk School of Glass in Germany and studied with the Italian master, Lino Tagliapietra at the Haystack School of Crafts in Maine. Heavy, early, and large example! Please compare to her contemporary pieces available today, and you are getting a large discount on one of her earliest examples!
