Antique Heavy Mission Oak Arts Crafts Lounge Chair
Overall good condition and about 100 years old. Some pegged construction with fumed quarter sawn oak finish. I acquired this and its companion(listed separately) about 10 years ago upon my move here in upstate N.Y. and these have been in use since my acquisition then. These are rather unusual forms with thick and obviously square construction. Oilskin seats and back cushions are supple. They sit very comfortably for me being 6'2". My Dad even says this is comfy(picky for a reason), and he was 6'5" AND 425 at that time......i kid you not. A walking wall. This chair does have a slight round water stain on one arm rest....maybe a scratch here or there, and a slight crack just under an arm joint(please see photo, this is rather inconsequential), as this is still solid and well hidden. Would probably be best to be picked up as it is very square and heavy, although if anyone wants to arrange shipping via carrier I am more than willing to help and arrange the details. Measures 42 1/4" tall to top of back, 32 3/4" edge of arm to edge of arm, and 36 1/2" depth from wall. The seat is 24" wide and 19" deep. I am sure this chair has as much wood as any set of 4 chairs sold in any of today's furniture stores(and that doesn't include most of the sawdust and glue examples). I also have another matching chair that was a smoking chair that I acquired with this. Shipping for this chair can easily run 400 or 500 dollars......or more due to its heft and square nature which takes up a lot of shipping space.....if your within the Northeast/New England area I can likely deliver or arrange a meet at some point for about $300/350 since I travel all these areas somewhat frequently, and as long as your not in a hurry. Your free to call around and check with shippers of your choice, as you may have a preference there also....I will help any way possible, except for the packing....I am happy to drop off or co-ordinate with your packers/shippers. As for now, I enjoy using these chairs as I have for the past 10 years, and just have them displayed in our guest rooms since they look great. It is surprising how quality just looks good with other quality items......even if you mixed the eras and themes....they just work together. Do not hesitate to ask any question.
