This is a very colorful painting of a wedge of watermelon on a table. It is painted on Masonite and is signed on the back along wit the title. The painting measures 20" x 15 3/4" without the frame. This would be a great painting for your kitchen or any room you wish to brighten up.
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Born in Chile in 1948, he moved to California in 1972. Previously influenced by Fauvism and Expressionism in his object and non-objective painting, Guzman-Maldonado began painting the California landscape, en plein air, very early in the morning or right before sunset. He cites Charles Reiffel, Maurice Braun and Charles Fries as influences. He began painting with his fingers and realized that objects performed better than the paint brush. His palette became heavy and colors abstracted from the sun were moved onto masonite board, creating timeless imagery.
Guzman-Maldonado exhibits primarily in Southern California, with his work being collected world wide.
