You asked and I listened! At a recent auction I purchased an auction lot of spectacular rings from the 1970s and '80s. These more contemporary rings are beautifully handmade and feature top quality gems. I do love my antiques, but at heart I'm still a girly-girl and I have to admit that all these flashing gems did leave me a bit starstruck!
This one features a fabulously bright, oval ruby of approximately 1.12 ct., 7.84 x 5.92 x 2.64 mm. The stone has a nice pigeon blood color. The stunning ruby is surrounded by 10 round brilliant cut diamonds, each weighs about .15 carats and the total is about 1.5 carats. They have an approximate GIA color grade G-H and GIA clarity grade VS range. The stones are set into a platinum mounting and backed with 18 karat gold. The contrast is fabulous, this is a ring for a girly-girl, the diamonds are full of life, flashy and sparkly, the ruby draws the eye with its glowing red fire.
The platinum mounting has no marks, the back is marked for 18 karat gold, it has also been carefully acid tested. It is a size 8 US and could be easily resized. It weighs 5.1 grams. Made around 1980. A classic cluster style ring, nothing goes better with a manicure and a martini. This ring comes with a full appraisal and is valued at $7,000.00 USD.
