Peridot is the only gemstone found in meteorites. Granted this particularly lovely bright olive green emerald-cut Peridot is most likely Earth-made, but I find it fascinating to think of all those big chunks of rock flying through the cosmos with these lovely green crystals along for the ride. Is it just a coincidence that Kryptonite looks a little like Peridot? I think not.
This fantastic Retro ring is dated 1945 and was at one point inscribed with two names and a date, much of which has been rubbed out by age and perhaps a resizing. I can make out the name 'Adelin' then '11' which is most likely a date but the middle bit is lost, then the year (presumably) '45' and another name which I can't quite make out but starts with the letter 'M'. It tests as 18 karat gold and platinum. It also contains 8 rose cut diamonds set into platinum. It is a size 9 US but could be resized a bit either up or down. It weighs 9 grams.
