I gotta tell ya, this one was hard to photograph, kids. Seriously, the photos do it so little justice that I actually debated on whether or not to even list it (okay the 'not listing it' might have also had something to do with the fact that I've been loving having this one all to myself, it just keeps the compliments rolling in!), but I decided that it's time, this one needs a permeant and loving home. Is there perhaps a spot in your jewel box for this fabulous bit of glitterati? It won't take up too much room, requires minimal care and feeding.
This French Edwardian garland era pendant on platinum chain is much prettier in person than I've managed to convey. The center stone is an old European cut diamond of approximately .5 carats and it is set off by four smaller full cut old European diamonds and 100 winking rose cut diamonds. An early window-pane style this pendant shows the encroaching geometric influence of Art Deco overlapping with the floral motifs typical of the late Edwardian garland style. While it is now solely a pendant, this piece was created as a convertible item and would have originally had fittings allowing it to convert to a brooch or other item. It measures an impressive 44 mm or 1.75 inches top to bottom not including the top ring and bale and 35 mm or 1.375 inches across. The bale adds another 13 mm or .5 inches in length. The chain is 18 inches long. The necklace weighs 12.6 grams. It bears the French eagles head mark which was used on Parisian jewelry of platinum content before the dogs head mark was created in 1913. I have also had the pendant tested to verify platinum content, as well as the chain.
Made in France around 1910, this is a light and airy and very feminine pendant with tons of style and lots of fire. Want it? Yeah, so did I!
