Watch chains and long guard chains were created throughout the Victorian age to hold pocket watches, but sadly, we don’t wear pocket watches so much anymore these days. So, a bit of clever up-cycling might just be in order. Take a 1890’s Victorian long guard chain, cut it down to a gloriously wearable 32 inches, and use a bit of the chain to hang some lovely baubles off of it.
A small perfume bottle with an opening top, a watch key set with a round carnelian top and a little puff heart all result in a necklace that can be worn any day of the week. This jingly 9 karat yellow gold necklace is marked ‘9’ on several of it’s parts. The drop measures 70 mm long at the longest point and the necklace weighs 23.5 grams, we’ve acid tested it to verify content.
This is a fabulous necklace to layer up with other necklaces, as can be seen in the last photo on our lovely (and quite pregnant!) model.
