A perfect little Jugenstil heart, two flowers, growing together and also apart. Hand crafted, most likely in Germany in about 1890, this heart showcases the beautifully simplicity of this design, one which found its roots in the English Art Nouveau style and Japanese arts and prints. You see it now, don’t you? Yup, perfect. Jugendstil.
This silver heart is not a locket, but rather a ‘puffy heart’ as they’re called. It sports two little matching garnets on the front, each 2mm across, and is marked ‘900’ on the reverse for the silver content. The heart measures 28.7 mm north to south and 22 mm across and weighs 3.8 grams.
