This wonderful long Victorian Silver locket is so pretty, it almost looks like it belongs hanging on the wall. A twisted rope and dot pattern form an elaborate frame around the central etching where a detailed butterfly hovers above a floral spray so life like you can almost smell the sweetness of the blossoming rose.
The oval locket has a slightly unusual elongated shape and holds two old photos (we like to call them 'instant ancestors'). The locket is very solidly built and weighs an impressive 31.6 grams. It is fully hallmarked with the marks for having been made in Birmingham, England in 1880. At this time, in the height of Victorian fashion, it would have been de rigueur for the well dressed lady to wear silver cuffs and collar and locket as part of her daywear ensemble. This special locket would have more than fit the bill.
