This 20's celluloid hand painted purse frame is gorgeous.
Each side of the frame features three hand painted roses. Two of the three roses on the front are done in light pink, with the one rose on the left side done in a multi-color pink rose. The three roses on the back are done in red.
The round celluloid top "button", pushes down to open; it works perfectly. The celluloid handle is very unique & has a great look. There are celluloid links, along with three round beads (not sure if they are celluloid or wood), along with an approx. 1 1/2" long dark amber color piece at the top. Please note, below one of the large celluloid rings on the side, there is an outline of the actual celluloid ring, which does show some roughness (see last pic). This does not go through to the inside. I have lightened this photo to show detail, along with the other side.
The frame measures approx. 4" outer hinge to hinge, 5 5/8" across the top and 1 1/4" from the top to bottom of the center of the frame, no counting the "button" closure. With the closure it measures 1 1/2". There is a round rough area inside the frame, which was done during the making of this celluloid frame and not a flaw.
Except what's noted above, the condition is excellent. There are no cracks or mends, and the hinges work perfectly.
You will love this outstanding vintage celluloid purse frame; it's gorgeous.
