This gorgeous double strand wax wedding crucifix/cross necklace dates to around the 1940's.
There are wax buds scattered along each necklace strand. The wax cross is double sided & is done in wax buds with a wax bud "spray" in the center. Both sides are the same.
The total length from the top of the necklace portion to the end of the cross is approx. 33". The total length of each necklace strand when measured around, from one end to the other is approx. 56". The cross alone is 6" long X 3" wide; the length of the cross includes the metal tip which is covered in antique white silky floss/thread. It does not include the 1 3/4" long floss covered top "connector" piece.
The wax strands feature small handmade wax “buds”, which have a thin wire at the end. Each “bud” is tucked underneath silky cream color thread, which is wrapped around a thick cord, which doesn't appear to be wired.
The overall condition is very good, with some wax buds missing from the necklace portion & a couple buds missing from the center "spray" on one side. I only know this because there are thin pieces of wire without wax buds. There is just a bit of silky floss thread missing from the metal bottom tip.
This is a great looking vintage wax cross/crucifix necklace which looks great displayed.
