This beautiful black floral petit point purse body has become detached from its original frame, which features black enamel detail along the five black stones at the top center of the frame. The handle appears to be original to the frame. The purse opens and closes perfectly but please note, you'll need to pull up on the jeweled closure in order to close it; there isn't a pull and there never was one. When you open it, you will need to push the closure up with one hand & hold onto one end with the other. It's not as complicated as it might sound. There aren't punched holes in the frame, so I would recommend taking it to a jeweler to have them attach it; they may use some glue to help keep it in place (there are remnants of old glue at each end).
The petit point body is beautiful; it features petit point along the bottom & along the sides. The lining is done in light pink silk, which has some soiling & just a bit of shredding along the top edge. This won't be seen once it's tucked in between the frame. The outside of the pocket reads: Made in Austria. There is a loose piece of thin rope inside the lining, which was probably used to help keep the body attached to the frame.
The overall condition is very good; except what's mentioned above, there is slight black enamel loss in the front, which are "dot" size-there are approx. three; minor age-related darkening to the antique gold metal frame. The purse body has no stains or odors.
The frame is approx. 5 ¾" from hinge to hinge & 2 3/8" down the sides. The handle has a 5" drop. The petit point body is approx. 6" top to bottom X 6 ¼" across & ½" in width.
This is a beautiful purse.
