This beautiful, vintage compact is German and it is stamped on the inner edge of the top of the compact "Germany Sterling" and then it appears there are initials, perhaps, "D" with a backwards "C". The compact is in 99.8% + excellent, vintage condition. The compact is a stunning buttercup yellow in guilloche enamel. The scene on the front is beautiful and depicts a couple of birds (cranes, I believe) with water, trees and mountains in the background. The enameling is perfect with no dents, dings or damage of any kind. The top has some almost opalescence to it with certain light. The interior has a cased mirror that is very clear with no cracks or silver loss. The powder well has a gold vermeil finish that has a little bit of wear in a couple of small areas - nothing detracting. On the silver rim, around the edge of the compact on the top, there is one tiny speck of discoloration (pencil tip size) which is on the metal - not in the enameling. I am being very picky here, as I do not feel this is damage at all. The compact measures 2 1/4" in diameter. The lid closes properly and snugly. There is no puff. It is a stunning compact in nearly mint condition.
