This is really a great old book! It is titled "My Native Land" and was written by James Cox. It was copyrighted in 1898 by Mrs. O. E. Blair and published in 1903 by the Blair Publishing Co. of Philadelphia. It is 400 pages long and "profusely illustrated" many of which are actually photographs. The title page reads "My Native Land. The United States: its Wonders, its Beauties, and its People; with Descriptive Notes, Character Sketches, Folk Lore, Traditions, Legends and History, for the Amusement of the Old and the Instruction of the Young".
The chapters are: 1) Our Nation's Birth, 2) The Witch of Salem, 3) In Picturesque New York, 4) In The Center of the Country, 5) The Mormons and Their Wives, 6) The Invasion of Oklahoma, 7) Cowboys - Real And Ideal, 8) Wards of Our Native Land, 9) Civilization - Actual and Alleged, 10) Old Time Communists, 11) How Custer Lived and Died, 12) Among the Creoles, 13) The Heathen Chinee In His Element, 14) Before Emancipation And After, 15) Our National Park, 16) The Heroes Of The Iron Horse, 17) The Railroad to The Clouds, 18) Into The Bowels of The Earth, 19) Our Great Waterways, 20)Through The Great Northwest, 21) In The Warm Southeast.
The back cover is separated a little bit, but overall this book is in good condition. The spine is nice and tight. There is a name written in pencil inside the cover and the first two pages have a small tear on the side.
