Elegant Victorian gatetop mesh chatelaine purse with decorative lid. Simply superb vanity purse, with chatelaine rings on each side of the gatetop expansion frame. This purse is circa 1890 and has a unique opening, twist the lid and then lift it up to gain access. The lid and gatetop expansion are sterling silver. The purse is finished with lots of beaded hoops on the bottom. It measures 5 1/4" in length and is in very good condition. There are no holes in the mesh and it is securely attached to the frame. There is a small area with a pull in the thread but it is not torn. This purse was most likey made by Fuchs & Beiderhase. Rudolph Fuchs and George Beiderhase of New York were in business from 1891 until 1896. This would also make a wonderful antique doll purse or accessory. It is missing its chain.
