This is a fantastic large French fashion doll that is only marked with the number 12 on the back of her head. She is 35" tall without her wig/hat. Her smile reminds me of a Bru, but it is a mystery whether she was made by Bru, Gaultier or another maker. She is very early - 1880's and was most likely made as an exhibition doll or to display clothing. Her bisque head is beautiful - nice and creamy bisque with fabulous blue glass spiral eyes. Her head is free from any hairlines, restoration or damage. She has her original attachment inside of her head and is on her original white leather kid body with individually stitched fingers and gusset joints. The body is in superior condition, considering its age with only a few minor patches. She has her wonderful antique undergarments that are stitched closed so I am not removing it but can tell the upper body is fine. She has a cork pate, antique reddish brown human hair wig and an incredible dress. The dress is original to her: wonderful burgundy striped silk with antique lace ruffles and silk ribbons. It is melting but still display worthy. HEr hat i9s also original to her and matches the dress. Now for her darling accessories: she has an unusual bustle that is wire springs covered with brown linen fabric. I have never seen a bustle like this and it is highly functional to puff out the back of her dress. She also has an antique brass bar pin, elaborate antique bracelet, antique Victorian beaded purse, red earrings and a newer religious necklace. She has antique socks and leather boots. I can supply photos of this doll in a blonde antique mohair wig so let me know if you wish to see photos. This lovely girl is ready for display and can be yours on layaway with $500 down provided the remainder is paid in 15 monthly installments or less. International buyers need to confirm shipping costs due to her large size.
