A charming copy of the second enlarged Hodder & Stoughton edition of Peter Pan which is undated, but in fact dates to 1912.
This LARGE book ~ is undated but was infact published in 1912 ~ and has the deserved reputation of being the 'best edition'.
It is lavishly illustrated by Arthur Rackham who provides 50 GORGEOUS colour plates with tissue guards and such charming itles as "Wallflower juice is good for revivingh dancers who fall to the ground in a fit". This describes the attached illustration of a mouse delivering the potion to fairies who are prostrate on the ground.
Rackham has also provided black and white line drawings throughout some full page.
This huge book measures 8 1/2 by 11 1/4 inches and is around 2 1/4 inches thick!
127 delicious pages.
Overall in very nice condition but there is some rubbing/ wear to the spine edges and the top and bottom of the spine is a little frayed. THIS is a book which has been taken off the shelf and loved.
There is some foxing to the first few pages and sporadically and sometimes next to the hinges.
One black and white illustrated page is badly creased on the edges - probably because it was at one point loose and remained so for quite a while.
