Many, many years ago this piece was found at a flea market. The design and incredible chain are captivating. It is a gorgeous dragon motif with Mt. Fuji in the background inset into a light wood disk (my pictures show it darker than it is). I believe it to be a netsuke. I have seen one similar like this attached to a beautiful fabric wallet/purse. Alas, this one does not have the fabric purse/wallet anymore, but the real prize is still here with the symbolic dragon design medallion.
The eight chains and dragon medallion appear to be brass, but not tested.
This would be great incorporated into a piece of jewelry or repurposed once again attached to an inro. Good condition. Still has the screw to undo and attach the end piece to fabric. There are some spots on the back of the wood disk, but a fine sanding or good cleaning would probably remove most of the spots.
2 inches in diameter; from the disk to the end of the of the chain where it would attach to a fabric piece is approximately 5 inches. Exceptional detail and patina on this piece, ready for its next life!
