Gold stone is a man-made stone that was discovered during the European renaissance in Italy. While goldstone is still used in jewelry today, goldstone's heyday was during the Victorian era, when women wore brooches, necklaces and stick pins made using this glittery glass. Gold stone was associated with the Sun during the Renaissance because of its sparkling orange-gold hue.
