COMMENTS: This beautiful diamond ring dates to the Art Deco period, 1923. The European cut round cut diamond is securely set in a low profile 8 prong octagon head that accentuates the size of the diamond. The setting is ultra feminine with lovely hand tooled floral buds and intricate filigree. The majority of the setting is yellow gold with the exception of the top being white gold. The inside of the shank is hand engraved: D.C.D. to M.E.E. 6-2-23 from the original owners, I love this extra piece of history! This would make an excellent choice for promise or engagement ring today. This vintage ring will touch your heart and soul with its timeless beauty. There's something magical about jewelry from another era, with its own story to tell.
The Art Deco Period, which began around 1920 and ended about 1935, produced brilliant jewelry which was in contrast to the jewelry of the previous periods. The emphasis shifted from soft colors and flowing lines to bold, bright colors and straight lines. Women cut their long hair and began wearing it short and boyish. This was the era of jazz and flappers! Art Deco jewelry complimented the flamboyant and playful attitude of the day and remains a favorite of collectors today.
