This beautiful DeLizza and Elster Juliana demi-parure of a flat bracelet and pair of earrings is simply unrivaled for its sparkling elegance! Impressively large root beer-colored emerald-cut rhinestones are shown to their best advantage by flanking them with contrasting colors of amber and topaz rhinestones in a goldtone setting.
From 1947 through 1990, the DeLizza & Elster Company manufactured hallmarked jewelry for other well-known companies including Weiss, Alice Caviness, Kramer, Hattie Carnegie, Joan Rivers, and Kenneth J Lane, among others. Jewelry pieces sold under the D & E name were not signed, but instead can be recognized by a number of design and construction characteristics, including the use of large foiled and un-foiled rhinestones and art glass stones, figure eight solder puddling, and five-link and riveted construction (DeLizza, 2006).
Possessing many of the characteristics discussed by Mr. DeLizza, this luscious demi is further identified as one of the beautiful D&E flat bracelets described by Musetti (2008) and Pitman (2010) and surely, this demi-parure ranks among the finest.
Measuring 7 ¼" in length, the bracelet is noted for luscious and large, root beer-colored, emerald-cut rhinestones, finished on either side with the characteristic rhinestone chain of amber chatons. The root beer stones are separated along the length by large, prong-set topaz rhinestone chatons that exhibit the well-known D&E figure-eight soldering on the reverse. The bracelet closes with a box-in-tongue push-in clasp, ornamented on the top with a single amber colored chaton and is further secured with a well-working safety chain. There is slight finish wear on the reverse.
The matching earrings are breath-taking and feature a single root beer-colored, emerald-cut stone, topped with a glorious corona of topaz rhinestones in chaton, pear, and emerald-cuts. Measuring a very generous 1 ¼" tall by 1 ¼" wide, the earrings exhibit the D&E figure-eight soldering on the reverse along with the well-known clips with a single hole at the top. The finish is in near-mint condition.
