This is an exquisite pot metal and paste necklace from the Art Deco period! Measuring 16 ½" end to end, the sparkling piece features a delicate and very beautiful centerpiece designed in a classic geometric pattern so typical of Art Deco style and side chains made entirely of the tiniest paste stones that have been pavé set along the entire length of the chain. Two or three stones on the chain have darkened with age. The centerpiece resembles a shield with hinged side Mercury-wings that nicely accommodate the curve of the neck, all adorned with pavé set clear paste baguettes, chatons, and a marquis-cut center stone. The centerpiece measures 2 1/8" from side-to-side along the chain including the Mercury-wings and 1 1/4" from the top to bottom of the shield. The necklace closes with a fold-over clasp with pavé set paste ornamentation. The rhodium-plated finish is remarkable, with a thick even coating that has retained almost mint-condition shine. A very fine Art Deco piece!
