Today I am presenting this fabulous Antique set, made of 800 silver. It is continental and probably was made in Germany in the late 19th Century.
The set consists of a creamer, covered sugar and waste bowl. It was most likely part of a larger set containing a tea and/or coffee pot.
The design is so magnificent, and truly has elements of the grand Baroque style. The pieces are covered in heavy repousse work much of which is floral in nature. Each piece has two central cartouches which contain beautiful scenes of cherubs and children.
All three pieces sit on four curved legs. The sugar bowl has a domed top cover with a pretty shaped finial and a rose patterned design. It is truly a masterpiece of design that cannot be replicated today.
The sugar and creamer have the number 800 on the bottom with some other unrecognizable mark. The waste bowl has three worn unrecognizable marks. All are guaranteed to be 800 or coin silver and weigh in at a hefty 29.4 ozt.
The waste bowl measures 3 1/2" by 3" and stands 3" in height. The creamer is 5" tall. The sugar, including the lid stands 7" in height and measures 7 1/2" in width including the handles. They are all in great condition except for a little out of roundness for the sugar bowl lid. This heavy and magnificently crafted set is truly of investment quality.
