I just love this pair of Victorian tazzas done in lacquerware. My dilemma is I can't decide if they are English, French or Japanese. The English and French made lacquerware objects resembling those of Oriental origin during the Victorian era so it is very hard to distinguish, nevertheless they are lovely.
The pair are small in stature, each measuring 4 3/4" in diameter and standing 4 1/2" tall. They have a shiny black background with wonderful raised gold enamel painting, rather a subtle design, which leads me to think they could be of Japanese origin.
The pair are in mint condition and would be lovely in your home. They would make elegant serving dishes or display pieces.
