I am proud to present this enchanting manicure set. The piece has hallmarks showing it was manufactured in Birmingham, England in 1917, and the manufacturer was Samuel L Levi.
The fitted box opens to reveal eight pieces essential for milady's grooming. The pieces include a crystal rouge pot with a sterling lid, a sterling topped nail file, two pairs of nail scissors, a tweezers, a nail file and two instruments I believe to be for cuticles.
All of the pieces have sterling silver handles with the same Birmingham silver hallmark and 1917 date. The style of the handles looks to be that of Art Nouveau, bordering on Art Deco. which coincides with the manufacturing date of 1917.
The box is black or a deep navy blue. It is leather with a gilt border and has two gold colored latches. The interior is lined in gray silk on the inner cover and the bottom has gray velvet. It is fitted out to hold all eight pieces. The inside silk cover has gold writing that says "STERLING SILVER HALL MARKED".
The box has a measurement of 9" by 7". The implements have a gross weight of 5.545 troy ounces. It is in very good antique condition
