This is an unusual Victorian bookchain necklace, dating from the late 19th Century. It is gold fill, and contains a tiny pearl and four red paste stones.
The necklace has a wearable length of 16 1/2" and the attached fan pendant measures 1" long and is 1" wide at the bottom. The fan has an incised design and has a tiny cultured pearl at the top, and four red stones, likely paste, across the center. Very pretty. The chain itself has an attractive etched designs on both sides.
The necklaces closes with a tubular clasp that goes into the center of the fan. I am used to seeing these necklaces with a locket or cameo at the bottom. The fan is rather unique.
The piece has a weight of 16.7 grams and is in fine vintage condition.
